Several mountaineering presentations and meetings are happening this month in the Flathead.

On this Friday, March 7, at Rocky Mountain Outfitters, is a “Celebration of Glacier Park Alpinism,” featuring the premiere of the short film “BADROCK: a portrait of Seth Anderson.” Seth is a GMS member and contributor of climbing stories to local news outlets like the Hungry Horse News.
This is a ticketed event and has limited seating, so be sure to reserve a spot.

Next Tuesday, Austrian mountaineer Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner is presenting “Defying Limits: Climbing the 14 Highest Peaks” at the Wachholz.

By reaching the summit of the treacherous 8,611-meter-high K2, she became the first woman to scale all of these giants without the use of supplemental oxygen or high altitude porters. In other words, she relied only on her own sheer will, training, remarkable athleticism, and determination. Gerlinde lives in Upper Austria, where she spends her time rock climbing, mountaineering in the Alps, going on expeditions, and mentoring other climbers.
Also, on Monday, March 10, Stormy Good Monod will be at the Whitefish Community Center between 3-6pm for a book signing of her revised Day Hikes Around the Flathead. The author will be will donating $12 to the Whitefish Community Center for each book sold at the event. (Note, cash sales only, please.)
