We are putting the wraps on the 2024 edition of Going to the Sun, The Journal of the Glacier Mountaineering Society. The 2024 issue has some fantastic articles about extreme adventures taking place in Glacier Park in the 2023 season. We’re titling it the Extreme Adventures Issue. It includes:
- An Ice climb up a 3,000-foot frozen waterfall that was only the beginning of a six year mission to conquer the north face of Bearhat Mountain
- A 20 hour-climb covering more than 50 miles to link up, in a day, Cleveland and Merritt, two of the largest peaks in the Park
- A helicopter evacuation using inReach devices
- Glacier Park rangers authoring a history of wilderness climbing
- A new mom finally climbing Heavens Peak
- The history of the Over the Hill Gang
- And much more, including the usual Calendar of events and a few surprises whipped up by our 24 volunteer contributors
