This is a great trip along the divide north of Swiftcurrent Pass. Gordon Edwards "Climbers Guide to Glacier National Park" has a usefull description of the North Swiftcurrent Basin. It's helpful to remember when approaching from Swiftcurrent Pass to stay high, the best ledge is on the edge of a talus field above the lower cliff band. Of significance for our event was the early season date and the unknown return back along the divide to Swiftcurrent Peak. We lucked out with the snow conditions and found the ledge had melted back from the cliff edges just enough execpt for one short near the south end still in the trees. This crux area is almost directly under the summit of Swiftcurrent. The actual glacier basin is easy and pleasant traveling. No problem getting up to South Iceberg except for a few awkward wet areas, mostly because of the weather conditions. The route back south along the divide to Swiftcurrent was not hard and very senic, 3rd class except for one short low 5th class chimney. We could probably have saved a little trouble by going higher above the first saddle before traversing. We ended up traversing the Summit of Swiftcurrent on the west side and hit the Lookout trail about 300' below the top. Very nice trip, lots of elevation gain , lots of miles, and suprisingly remote, considering much is not very far from major trails.
