Write Up:
It was a great time to be in the Rocky Mountain Front. I always try to spend a few weekends in the Front in June. all in all we had great weather. The day started out very windy. Black leaf canyon tends to funnel wind. I was concerned we might be in for a miserable day as we braced ourselves against the almost constant wind. We broke out of the canyon and the wind lessened. We hiked through some lovely open meadows full of late spring flowers. Some forested sections blocked the wind entirely. After a few short miles we were at the base of Mount Frazier. On our way up we were occasionally exposed to the wind again. Jim Young got knocked down by a particular gust. At times I was pushed and stumbled by the wind. There was a nice wind block to huddle against just below the summit. We enjoyed great views. There was still a good amount of snow to be seen all around. We got to enjoy a different route down. We got off the mountain very quickly thanks to an extended scree run. It was a great day.
